Do YOU Haiku?

image of cherry blossomSeriously….do you haiku?  If you do haiku, we want to see it.  Pit your creative skills against other people and win a T-shirt.   Enter your haiku using a form on our website or stop by Rentschler Library to fill out a paper form.  The contest will start March 22 and run until April 16.  The contest is only open to Miami affiliated users.

Haikus are typically 17 syllables, with three lines of 5, 7 and 5 syllables each  They often have a nature theme and capture the author’s feelings or emotions during a brief moment in time.  Here’s an example:

That loud cardinal
where was that beautiful song
when the snow lay deep?

The rules are that your haiku must be your original work, it must be 5-7-5 syllables and contain no profanity.  Humorous haikus are OK, if that’s your thing.  The winner will be announced the week of April 19.  So c’mon, give it a try!
