Let’s Hear it for the Ladies! The 2011 Nobel Peace Prize Laureates.

According to the Nobel Peace Prize Press Release, three impressive Nobel Laureates were chosen to share the award “for their non-violent struggle for the safety of women and for women’s rights to full participation in peace-building work.” The site further states: “We cannot achieve democracy and lasting peace in the world unless women obtain the same opportunities as men to influence developments at all levels of society.” [ Full Article ]

Ellen Johnson Sirleaf (Liberia), Leymah Gbowee (Liberia) and Tawakkul Karman (Yemen) join 121 Laureates who have also received the award.
