Haiku masters wanted!

Statue of BashoYou don’t have to be as good as Bashō (at left), a 17th C. Japanese master, to write haikus. Many good haikus touch on some aspect of nature, but you’re free to explore whatever theme you want. Why don’t you try entering our haiku contest?  We have one more week to gather entries. Submit yours online here, or fill out a paper form near the big display in the library. Our display features some of the excellent haikus we’ve received from Miami students, staff and faculty over the years, as well as a collection of our books with examples of haikus by Japanese and non-Asian masters. There are even books that will help you write haikus.
