Searching for Articles
These resources will require log in with your Miami ID and password when accessed off campus
Begin by clicking the blue “Choose Databases” link and checking the box next to the additional databases that you would like to search. This selection will be different for each of you, and will depend on the topic you have chosen. Some of the databases that might be useful for this assignment include:
- Business Source Complete
- Communication & Mass Media Complete
- Computer Source
- Education Full Text and Education Research Complete
- Health Source Complete
Narrowing the Results List
If you have a very large results list after your initial search, use the menu bar on the left side of the results screen to limit, or narrow, your results. You can limit:
- By the date of publication to get articles that were published recently
- To “peer reviewed” articles to see original research written by experts in the field
- By language to see only articles in English
Getting Full Text & Citing Articles
Click on blue article titles to see additional information including an abstract. Full text links are located in the top right corner. When no full text link is present, try the button to search for the full text in other databases. Use the tool bar on the right to print, save, email, and cite your articles in APA format. The screenshot below shows all of these areas and buttons.
