CINAHL Plus with Full Text – The premier nursing research database. Before searching, it can be useful to use the CINAHL Headings search option (see screenshot below), to find the precise term or terms for your topic.
After clicking on “CINAHL Headings, type in your search term or phrase and you will see if there is a more “official” term used in nursing research.
In this example a search on “heart attack” tells you that “Myocardial infarction” is the more precise term. You can click on the new term and run a search.
Health Source Nursing/Academic Edition – Covers nursing and allied health topics. Over 450 peer-reviewed journals are included. Use the option to Limit to Scholarly Peer-Reviewed Journals.
MEDLINE with Full Text – A medical literature search database, but it does let you limit your search to nursing research. Go to the “Journal & Citation Subset” option and select “Nursing.”
