Connect with Us During National Library Week

Join us during National Library Week, April 3 – 9! National Library Week is an annual celebration highlighting the essential role libraries, librarians, and library workers play in transforming lives and strengthening our communities.

The first National Library Week was observed in 1958 with the theme “Wake Up and Read!” This year’s theme is “Connect with Your Library,” which promotes the idea that libraries are places to get connected to technology and to each other. The 2022 National Library Week Honorary Chair is comedian/writer Molly Shannon, whose mother was a librarian. “Libraries are places where communities connect—to things like broadband, computers, programs and classes, books, movies, video games, and more. But most importantly, libraries connect us to each other. Supporting National Library Week in this role allows me to connect to my mother’s memory and all the librarians out there.”

We offer so much more than books! In addition to the desktop computers in the library, we also have laptops and other equipment available to be checked out. Need a camera for a class project? We’ve got you covered. Forget your phone charger at home? Check one out at the front desk and charge your phone between classes. Need a scientific calculator for a math test? We’ve got those too. We also have ebooks and DVDs. If you want to take advantage of these services, you can come in and see us or contact us another way to ask questions.

The American Library Association wants to know what connections you’ve made thanks to your library. Did you find a great book? Were you able to use textbooks on reserve instead of buying them? Did we help you find a great resource for a paper? Post on Instagram, Twitter, or the I Love Libraries Facebook Page using the hashtag #MyLibrary. One randomly selected winner will receive a $100 Visa gift card! Please tag us in your posts so we can also see the ways we’ve helped you connect!
